May has finally brought some good weather, after a very late Spring indeed. The photos left and bottom left from May 7th when the beach became very busy. The photo of the Queens Head below taken on the 2nd May and shows a stunning blue sky. The cottages on the Bank Top - close to Cliff House - are to the right of the Queens. | |

Photo left is just north of Cliff House, and shows the sea wall at the
foot of the Bank Top, with Cullercoats Bay and the breakwater in the distance. The old houses once stood at the top of this bank have long
gone, but visit the site history page to see what it used to be like in days gone by.

This is where the famous American artist Winslow Homer had his studio. It was here that Homer painted many of his great works. He lived in Cullercoats from April 1881 - November 1882. |
